A procedurally just flyer reduces subsequent speeding offences: evidence from the Queensland Speeding Engagement Trial (QSET)

Abstract Objectives The purpose of this study was to test the impact a procedural justice letter intervention that delivered with traffic infringement notices on subsequent speeding offences. Method This used Queensland Speeding Engagement Trial (QSET) experimentally using principles within police issued letter, individuals detected by cameras. Participants in control condition ( n = 7946) received notice as per normal while those experimental 8209) procedurally just addition notice. Administrative data for 12 months following identify if participants engaged and other offending behaviours. Results results indicated reduced offences drivers 25 years older when compared condition. No differences were found types Conclusions Thus, demonstrates effects (a) can be achieved through purposeful written communication (b) reduce behaviour.
